Thank you to the Pali Department of the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) for inviting me to deliver a talk at their department on ‘ Practice of Meditation in Hinduism and Buddhism’ on June 10th, 2022. The discussion was an exposition of the views of Gurudev Prof. R.D. Ranade in his philosophical literature. The lecture focused on how these practices have enhanced people’s lives over the centuries, and they continue to do that.
I would also like to take this opportunity to admire the works of Prof. Mahesh Deokar, Head of the Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies, Prof. Shrikant Bahulkar, world-known Indologist and former Director of the Bhandarkar Institute, and Dr. Lata Deokar, a visiting Professor and Researcher at the Pali department. The place is flourishing with students and researchers and their focus on continuing research in this field. I was very fortunate to visit them and much gratitude for their invitation to give a talk.
Any presentation by my Princeton colleague, Dr Mokashi, would be entirely worthwhile. And I’ll visit the site of Prof. Deokar – thank you for that info. Best
